What’s the difference between a local agent and a resident director?
A local agent (from From $1,900/yr (setup included)) is required for foreign companies registered with ASIC – they handle regulatory obligations. A resident director (from From $6,000/yr + GST) is required for Australian Pty Ltd companies – they serve as a director on the company’s board. If you establish a subsidiary (Pty Ltd), you need a resident director. If you register a branch office, you need a local agent.
